August 16, 2006 Oriskany, NY -- Fiber Instrument Sales (FIS) today unveiled a new automated dual-wavelength, bi-directional tester, dubbed CrossFire.

The unit measures insertion loss and optical return loss up to -70 dB. It tests multiple wavelengths via a single port, eliminating the need to reconnect cables and zero-reference the equipment for each test, report company representatives.

Fiber can be tested from both ends using two CrossFire units.

The device has storage capacity for up to 1,000 tests.
