January 16, 2006 Hamburg, Germany -- Adaptif Photonics has announced the release of its short wavelength A1000 Polarization Analyzer and A2000 Component Analyzer. Both instruments operate in the 850- to 1100-nm wavelength range.

The company says the analyzers provide measurements that have not been available before in commercial test instruments in this wavelength range.

Examples of such measurements, according to the company, include:

* High speed and highly accurate PMD / DGD measurement on optical components. In combination with a tunable laser, the A2000 allows measurement of PMD / DGD in the range from less than 0.1 ps to more than 200 ps.

* Real-time polarization extinction ratio (PER) measurements on PM fibers to levels beyond 50 dB.

* Measurement of the state of polarization (SOP), degree of polarization (DOP), and of the power of optical signals with sampling rates of up to 1 mega-sample per second.

Additionally, the company's polarizationNAVIGATOR PC software provides an intuitive user interface for the instruments. Popular automation interfaces are also supported for easy integration of the measurement devices into manufacturing test systems.

The instruments are available in both compact bench-top and 19-inch rackmount housings.
