NOVEMBER 15, 2006 -- Ixia (search for Ixia) has unveiled its new Aptixia Test Conductor, which it claims is a comprehensive "command center" that centrally manages automation for multiple test applications using a single regression control console.
Ixia Test Conductor unifies the management of Ixia's automated test application products, IxLoad, IxChariot and IxVoice. Together these applications simultaneously emulate triple-play subscribers, network infrastructure, and servers to test all elements of converged networks, say Ixia representatives.
"We are announcing an industry first--a centralized way to run all your testing applications for the accurate and reliable test results Ixia is known for," contends Errol Ginsberg, Ixia CEO. "High accuracy performance evaluation reduces field problems, guarantees less chance of product failure, and increases revenue through more predictable operation and improved customer satisfaction."
Ixia Test Conductor's central interface enables users to schedule and run regression suites for more efficient use of lab resources and productivity gains. Test Conductor also enables filtering and reviewing of test results across multiple test runs, simplifying results analysis for a faster and better understanding of service quality, explain company representatives. All of this is accomplished without any scripting, thereby better leveraging existing QA resources to achieve project automation goals.
Tests can be scheduled in series or in parallel with Test Conductor's calendar tool, similar to Microsoft Outlook. "At-a-glance" logs and summary reports allow engineers to see color-coded pass/fail results and the progress of the tests within multiple regression runs, all from a single workstation.
"A central test management tool is a great way to help automate and simplify the testing process in today's market where the need for integrated and complex regression testing is absolutely paramount to ensuring service quality and benefit from the lowest cost of ownership," explains Vanessa Alvarez, associate analyst for enabling technologies, Yankee Group. "Ixia has provided the industry with a 'must-have' to deploying triple-play services."
Test Conductor is based on a client/server model where the server houses the database for all tests, regressions, and results and coordinates all test activities. Multiple engineers and technicians can use the graphical user interface to design, schedule, run, and/or monitor test suites concurrently. Users connect to the Test Conductor server to configure, schedule, edit, and start/stop regressions. Once scheduled, tests can run without the need for a user console to be connected. A console user can then reconnect at any time when he or she is in the lab or on the road to monitor the status or analyze results of a regression run.
