AUGUST 6, 2010 -- EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) has increased the processing speeds of its FTB-8120NGE and FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer Multiservice Test Modules. The modules are designed to offer a full suite of SONET/SDH, packet-OTN, and Ethernet test capabilities in a compact, field-grade form factor. The enhancements enable the modules to operate up to 4X faster than previously. Usability enhancements further improve field test efficiencies, EXFO adds.

The FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer, supporting testing rates up to 11.1 Gbps for SONET/SDH, Ethernet (including 10-Gigabit Ethernet LAN and WAN), and OTN networks, is targeted at the deployment and maintenance of packet optical networks. The FTB-8120NGE Power Blazer, handling SONET/SDH/OTN testing rates up to 2.7 Gbps and Ethernet testing rates up to 1 Gbps, is purpose-built for the deployment of Ethernet-over-TDM and Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH/OTN services.

Said Étienne Gagnon, EXFO’s vice-president—Wireline Division and corporate marketing, “Network service providers are increasingly looking for ways to reduce operating costs, namely by choosing test solutions that enable their technicians to speed up the test cycles and ultimately spend less time in the field. EXFO’s industry-leading platform technology has recently gone an extra step, and as a result, our already popular Power Blazer test modules can run up to four times faster, which translates into a clear bottom-line benefit for our customers.”
