Digital Lightwave adds Fibre Channel over OTN to NIC test platform
NOVEMBER 8, 2010 -- Digital Lightwave Inc. has announced the availability of Fibre Channel over OTN test capabilities for the NIC Platform. The new Fibre Channel over OTN option is designed to provide testing of Fibre Channel services delivered over high-speed OTN networks, verifying the performance of the Fibre Channel service as well as the underlying OTN layer.
"In addition to our existing OTN and Fibre Channel service test capabilities within the NIC product, we are now able to measure the performance of 10-Gbps Fibre Channel across OTN transport links," said Tony Goodchild, director of product management and marketing. "Adding support for the OTU-1f and OTU-2f interface at 11.27 Gbps and 11.3 Gbps requires only a software upgrade on our MSA 2020 or MSA 2030 modules, reducing the price to deploy this service and negating the need to return equipment from the field for upgrade."
The 10G Fibre Channel Over OTN test option will be available on Digital Lightwave's Multi-Service Analyzer series of modules (MSA 2020 and MSA 2030) which feature test options for SONET/SDH, OTN, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and NGN technologies such as virtual concatenation, GFP, and LCAS.
Digital Lightwave's Fibre Channel testing is designed to support all aspects of node login, fabric login, and buffer-to-buffer flow control with configurable frame sizes, headers and rates. Extensive non-intrusive performance monitoring provides insight into in-service Fibre Channel circuit performance. Traditional optical measurements such as measuring and generating line frequency offsets are also supported.
