NOVEMBER 3, 2010 -- EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) says it has added full ODU0 and ODUflex capabilities to its 10G and 40G Transport Blazer test module series for packet optical transport.

ODU0 provides mapping for the transport of 1-Gbps Ethernet signals with multiplexing capability up to 100 Gbps. ODU0 allows for OTN networks to be backward-compatible with installed infrastructure and is optimized for Gigabit Ethernet clients and transport of client signals with a rate below 1.238 Gbps.

The ODUflex capability brings higher efficiency for network configuration and bandwidth allocation, enabling transport of any client signal at any rate. It enables technology shared by network equipment manufacturers, service provider labs, and field-testing crews.

“Over the past few years, EXFO has been providing its customers with leading next-generation test solutions. Now, we are the first in the industry to offer next-generation transport testing with full ODU0 and ODUflex capabilities in a portable format,” said Étienne Gagnon, EXFO’s vice-[resident of product management and marketing.

The new ODU0 and ODUflex capabilities are available as a software option for all Transport Blazer OTN test modules, including the FTB-8120NG/NGE, FTB-8130NG/NGE, and FTB-8140. In addition to the FTB portable form factor for field testing, these functionalities also are available in the IQS rackmount form factor (IQS-8120NG/NGE, IQS-8130NG/NGE, and IQS-8140) for lab verification.
