SEPTEMBER 15, 2010 -- EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) has launch of the NetBlazer series of handheld devices capable of 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps Ethernet testing that leverage the new FTB-1 handheld platform (see "EXFO launches FTB-1 intelligent handheld testing platform"). The company also unveiled the FTB-730 PON FTTx/MDU OTDR for PONFTTH applications.
The NetBlazer FTB-860, FTB-860G, and FTB-860GL are designed to enable field technicians to transition between 10/100/1000/10000 interfaces to rapidly adapt to a variety of networking environments.
To enable simplicity in configuration setting and GUI navigation, the NetBlazer series offers dedicated “quick action” buttons and clear notifications for rapid, accurate interpretation of test results in any environment, EXFO says. Workflow processes are streamlined through intelligent grouping of related test routines. Situational configuration guides are available to steer technicians through test protocols, with suggestion prompts and help guides at every stage of the process.
Other features that assist installation, activation and maintenance of metro Ethernet networks include:
- intelligent auto discovery
- smart loopback
- multistream traffic generation
- bidirectional RFC 2544 measurements
- EtherSAM, EXFO’s implementation of the ITU-T Y.156sam testing methodology.
Meanwhile, the FTB-730 is designed to enable fiber installers to rapidly, accurately, and seamlessly characterize single or double-stage splitters and perform OTDR trace analysis to accelerate fiber deployments in access networks.
With a dynamic range of 39 dB and rapid acquisition time, the FTB-730 can generate a sharp trace within 15 seconds, while testing through a 1 x 128 high-port-count splitter for end-to-end characterization of an optical link, EXFO says. The FTB-730 features a singlemode port for in-service troubleshooting, offers integrated PDF report generation, provides multiple wireless connectivity options, and supports 15 different languages.
