Digital Lightwave tapped for SDH testing across Tatarstan, Russia
March 7, 2005 Clearwater, FL -- Digital Lightwave, a leading provider of optical networking technology and test instruments, today announced Russian carrier TatTelecom's selection of the company's Network Information Computer (NIC) platform. According to a press release, TatTelecom chose the company's NIC products for test, turn-up, and maintenance of the carrier's SDH optical network deployment in Tatarstan, Russia.
"TatTelecom is the second largest private network carrier in Russia," remarks Michael Riddick, senior vice president of international sales at Digital Lightwave. "Their selection of the Digital Lightwave NIC endorses our strategy and goals for expanding our presence in the global fiber optic test equipment market."
According to the release, the company embarked upon a strategy to develop products for the international marketplace at the onset of its NIC platform's architectural design. Product design facilitated the engineering and development of international standards-based technology into the company's NIC and Network Access Agent (NAA) platforms, including technologies such as SDH and Jitter. Expanding that strategy, the company introduced products and features to test, monitor, and maintain Next Generation Network (NGN) deployment. NGN technology is being implemented in North America and throughout international markets.
The state-run carrier provides business and residential wireline telephone services to Russia's Tatarstan province, while employing more than 7,000 people, who work for its 48 branches. The carrier's investment projects include the fiber optical ring in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, which applies SDH technology to ensure high quality telephone signals and data transmission.
