Optical test and measurement technology supplier OptoTest Corp. has unveiled OPL-PowerRT, a software application to test insertion loss on multichannel fiber-optic assemblies. The software is designed to enable technicians to monitor all test results simultaneously.

OPL-PowerRT shows real-time power meter readings for all channels of OptoTest's OP710 multichannel power meter. The software enables customization of such elements as wavelength, active channels, test reports, and measurement display precision. It collects the data from all active detectors on the OptoTest power meter unit and will compile values into a custom formatted test report.

The software enables the OptoTest OP710 to offer the fastest insertion loss measurements in the industry, the company asserts. It records multiple channels of single-wavelength test results instantly, and can store data for a full set of "A-B" and "B-A" measurements. This second feature enables both sides of a multichannel cable assembly to be tested quickly and easily, the company adds.

The OPL-PowerRT software is available for order.
