SpecTran Corp. in Sturbridge, MA, has begun a $9 million project to increase manufacturing capacity at its wholly-owned subsidiary, SpecTran Specialty Optics Co. (ssoc) in Avon, CT. William B. Beck, ssoc president, says, "This project should enable us to centralize our operations and increase capacity by 50% over the next nine months. A new building is being expanded to accommodate new fiber draw towers, specialty cabling lines, and advanced assembly and test equipment."
