Anritsu offers 56-Gbaud NRZ/PAM4 BER measurement

Nov. 3, 2016
Anritsu Co. has unveiled a test instrumentation setup for 56-Gbaud NRZ/PAM4 BER testing. The combination includes the newly announced 64-Gbaud PAM4 DAC G0374A, the company's Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) MP1800A, and the 56G/64G DEMUX MP1862A. The test instruments target the measurement and evaluation of designs featuring the 53.125-Gbaud PAM4 transmission specifications being defined within the IEEE P802.3bs Task Force for 400 Gigabit Ethernet.

Anritsu Co. has unveiled a test instrumentation setup for 56-Gbaud NRZ/PAM4 BER testing. The combination includes the newly announced 64-Gbaud PAM4 DACG0374A, the company's Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) MP1800A, and the 56G/64G DEMUX MP1862A. The test instruments target the measurement and evaluation of designs featuring the 53.125-Gbaud PAM4 transmission specifications being defined within the IEEE P802.3bs Task Force for 400 Gigabit Ethernet.

In practice, the expandable G0374A leverages the MP1800A's built-in 32-Gbps pulse pattern generator (PPG) to convert half-rate 32G NRZ signals and generate 64-Gbaud NRZ/PAM4 signals. Technicians can then use the MP1800A's 28G/32G Error Detector (ED) with the 56/64-Gbps DEMUX MP1862A to generate wideband PAM4 signals up to 64 Gbaud to support 400GbE 53.125-Gbaud BER measurements.

The SQA MP1800A is a plug-in module type bit-error-rate tester (BERT) that generates synchronous signals for up to eight channels using the built-in 32G multi-channel PPG module. It features intrinsic jitter of 300 fs rms.
