JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU and TSX: JDU) has released the mORL multimode insertion loss test module for its MAP-200 platform. The module is designed to help manufacturers test multi-fiber connector and assembly products aimed at high-speed data center applications.

JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU and TSX: JDU) has released the mORL multimode insertion loss test module for its MAP-200 platform. The module is designed to help manufacturers test multi-fiber connector and assembly products aimed at high-speed data center applications.

The mORL module provides several benefits to multimode connector production line testing, according to JDSU. They include:

  • Improved test efficiencies by more than 300 percent, including 4X faster test per DUT in a 75 percent smaller footprint.
  • Easy set up of complex test scenarios using step-by-step wizards and a new, improved graphical operator interface. The system, for example, enables one-button connector inspection.
  • The mORL addresses new requirements for ribbon-fiber system loss budgets, including 50 percent reductions in connector losses.
  • Easy, seamless transitions from NPI to volume production via an Ethernet-based software interface combined with a flexible modular design. Straightforward SCPI commands over Ethernet simplify implementation.
