Net Optics has introduced a series of passive analyzer switches enabling a single protocol analyzer to perform real-time monitoring and analysis across multiple networks. Featuring all-optical technology, each SpyderSwitch allows full-duplex monitoring of any fiber topology, including ATM, SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fibre Channel. SpyderSwitches support all transmission speeds up to OC-192.

According to the company, traffic flows seamlessly through the switch via low-loss fiber optic Taps that do not affect the signal integrity or loading factor. The transparent SpyderSwitches function without disturbing network links, so monitoring can occur during business hours.

SpyderSwitches are controlled via an intuitive graphical interface and support network monitoring and analysis with all major manufacturers' devices. The SpyderSwitch software is compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, and XP. Additional features include custom cables for "plug-and-play" installation, and two load-sharing universal power supplies. If either power supply fails, the remaining power supply immediately assumes the additional load. Standard configurations are 1x4, 1x16, 1x24, and 1x32, with custom configurations available for monitoring up to 100 networks. Multimode and singlemode models are offered.

Net Optics Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) offers a range of custom fiber and copper-based products including analyzer switches, splitter taps, redundant port selectors, test and simulation products, and converters. For more information, visit the company's Web site at www.netoptics.com.
