Anritsu adds RS-FEC 100GbE capabilities to Network Master Flex MT1100A

Sept. 15, 2016
Anritsu Co. says it has expanded the feature set of its Network Master Flex MT1100A optical transport tester to support the generation and measurement of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE) signals using RS-FEC, Optical Transport Network (OTN), SDH/SONET, Ethernet, and legacy technologies. The enhancement enables engineers and field technicians to ensure transport equipment, core networks, and data center networks that support rates as high as 100G are in compliance with the RS-FEC standard.

Anritsu Co. says it has expanded the feature set of its Network Master Flex MT1100A optical transport tester to support the generation and measurement of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE) signals using RS-FEC, Optical Transport Network (OTN), SDH/SONET, Ethernet, and legacy technologies. The enhancement enables engineers and field technicians to ensure transport equipment, core networks, and data center networks that support rates as high as 100G are in compliance with the RS-FEC standard.

The new capabilities come via the Advanced Module MU110013A. The module has various clock outputs at the CFP2 port to verify optical module quality. Technicians can feed the clock as a trigger into an optical oscilloscope to verify optical module waveforms. The module provides the ability to encode/decode IEEE 802.3bj RS-FEC for 100GbE transport, as well as correctable/uncorrectable errors for threshold FEC tolerance testing. The installation of the CAUI4 four-lane BER measurement option into the Network Master Flex MT1100A enables error insertion into each lane and BER calculation on each lane as well, Anritsu says.

"100-Gbps data speeds are now common in core networks and data centers driven by the need for higher port densities and faster transfer speeds. In addition, Anritsu addresses IEEE standard 802.bj RS-FEC for 100GBASE-SR4 connections for high-speed data centers and metro connections," said Daniel Gonzalez, business development manager, Optical Transport Products, at Anritsu. "Our new module addresses this market development and continues to position the Network Master Flex MT1100A as an all-in-one tool that meets the evolving needs of high-speed environments."
