March 19, 2003--Hauppauge, NY-based Sagitta announced today that Trans Data Elektronik GmbH (TDE--Bippen, Germany) has placed an order for a Gemini Cx machine to complement its high quality production facility for patch cords. The industry's first turnkey manufacturing platform to combine polishing, cleaning, and inspection on a single tool, the Gemini Cx machine is ideal for both low volume-high mix applications as well as volume production, say company representatives. TDE will utilize the Gemini Cx to provide its customers with enhanced quality, shorter lead times, and lower cost.
The system will be utilized to seamlessly process all fiber-optic connectors from singlemode to multimode and from SC to MT-RJ with any of cable length. All processes are recipe driven with fully automated process flow ensuring superior run-to-run repeatability. High volume, batch processing, coupled with precision control of the polishing process, yields the lower Cost of Ownership. The integrated machine vision-based inspection provides standardized inspection and binning criteria that can be used for process control as well as sent to the end customer.
"The Gemini-Cx brings to market the first system that was designed to address the need for higher levels of productivity and quality in the single fiber and multi-fiber connector market segment," contends Amir Chitayat, president and chief executive officer of Sagitta. "We are excited about our new relationship with TDE as they are a growth oriented company focused on high quality products using efficient manufacturing technologies."
"We liked the Gemini Cx's flexibility in handling all connector types without operator intervention as well as its high first pass yield and integrated inspection," adds Andre Engel, president and chief executive officer of TDE. "The machine will help us provide even better service to our customers at high quality and shortest lead time".
