October 26, 2004 Petah Tikva, Israel -- ECI Telecom today announced the release of its new XDM-50, a miniature Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) that provides powerful XDM features at a fraction of the cost. The lower capacity solution delivers data and voice services over SDH, PDH, and Ethernet, resulting in new revenue-generating opportunities. The XDM-50 enables carriers to leverage their existing SDH base as well as offer a mix of carrier-class data services.

As the newest member of ECI's XDM next-generation optical platforms, the XDM-50 can be used as a standalone system, or it can be incorporated into a transmission network with the XDM-100. A service provider can start out with the low entry cost XDM-50 for lower bandwidth needs and expand with the XDM-100 when higher bandwidth needs arise. The XDM platform features a Build-As-You-Grow architecture that grows with the network.

ECI's XDM platforms are suited for cellular network applications and have been widely deployed by major cellular operators worldwide. ECI's new XDM-50 was especially designed with cellular networks in mind and has been optimized for small hub sites. High availability is important at cellular hub sites, and the XDM-50 enables this with full redundancy. The XDM-50 is managed by LightSoft, ECI's network management system, which has a unique multi-technology view.

"This addition to our XDM family allows us to offer a solution to any sized service provider, whether large or small," reports Ido Gur, vice president of sales and marketing, ECI's Optical Networks Division. "The XDM-50 is an ideal voice and data solution for the metro-access and cellular markets because of its flexibility, size, cost-effectiveness, capacity, and network efficiency."
