FEBRUARY 24, 2009 -- On January 30, 2009, Yenista Optics (search Lightwave for Yenista) and Anritsu (search Lightwave for Anritsu) agreed on the transfer of selected optical instruments and technology to Yenista. The instruments and technology relate to laboratory optical products including tunable lasers (Tunics), a modular platform (Osics), a tunable filter (Xtract), and an optical component tester (MT9820). The agreement guarantees continuity in product support for Anritsu's customers.

"This transfer perfectly fits the long-term strategy of Anritsu and we are confident that Yenista Optics will continue to support the customers in this area very well," says Mark Evans, executive vice president of Anritsu. "The transferred products will continue to be fully available through Anritsu's sales channels and will be gradually transferred to Yenista's sales channels over the next 12 months."

As part of the deal, Yenista acquired the corresponding patent portfolio, comprising IP on tunable lasers, tunable filters, optical spectrum analyzers, PMD measurement, and DWDM multiplexers.

"The deal is an excellent opportunity for Yenista to further expand its T&M business. We added a complete new product line with the lasers and seriously extended our IP," stated Michiel van der Keur, CEO of Yenista. "Yenista focuses on providing high-performance T&M equipment in order to enable customers to solve efficiently the most demanding T&M problems".

Yenista will move manufacturing and R&D from the Paris area to its headquarters in Lannion, France.
