RCN, Cross River Fiber partner for fiber-optic network expansion

RCN Business and Cross River Fiber have agreed to share fiber-optic network assets in in New York and New Jersey. The agreement opens New Jersey to RCN while expanding Cross River Fiber's footprint in New York City.

RCN Business and Cross River Fiber have agreed to share fiber-optic network assets in in New York and New Jersey. The agreement opens New Jersey to RCN while expanding Cross River Fiber's footprint in New York City.

Cross River Fiber specializes in fiber-optic network service provision in the New York/New Jersey metro area (see, for example, "Cross River Fiber completes ultra-low latency route in New Jersey" and "Ridgemont Equity Partners to buy majority stake in Cross River Fiber"). RCN Business will now gain access to a variety of locations in New Jersey, including data centers operated by Digital Realty, Savvis, Telx, IO, Net Access, Sentinel, and Equinix. RCN also will have access to Cross River Fiber's 1-Gbps and 10-Gbps services, as well as dark fiber.

The deal with Cross River Fiber complements RCN Business's existing activities along the U.S. East Coast (see "RCN Business adds 100-Gbps transmission to Ethernet backbone network").
