Comcast Business says it's Ethernet expansion will provide businesses with access to multi-gigabit Ethernet options to help address day-to-day demands for connecting multiple sites or branch locations, connecting their offices to a third-party data center, or large bandwidth requirements, the company says. Comcast lists the following as services provided:

· Ethernet private line for point-to-point connection between two customer sites for bandwidth-intensive operations

· Ethernet virtual private line for point-to-multipoint connectivity to enable customers to customize bandwidth, performance characteristics, and cost

· Ethernet network service linking organizations with high-bandwidth requirements and multiple locations through multipoint-to-multipoint connection across Comcast's network

· Ethernet dedicated internet for uninterrupted, high-bandwidth connection between the public internet and customers' LANs

"With a population surpassing one million, San Jose is the tenth largest city in the country, the third largest in California, and the heart of Silicon Valley. It's a thriving technology hub, home to tech giants such as Apple, eBay, Cisco, and PayPal," said Matthew Mahood, the Silicon Valley Organization's president and CEO. "Much like other large cities, San Jose is always looking for ways to attract new businesses while maintaining the best quality of life it can for all. Silicon Valley does business differently. In order to continue innovating, it must stay on the cutting-edge of technology to compete effectively within the region, and Comcast Business helps position us as a leading high-tech city."

In addition to providing multi-gigabitfiber-based Ethernet options on the west coast through this San Jose investmentto businesses, Comcast Business has started to do the same via its hybrid fiber/coax infrastructure supplied options on the east coast by providing Ethernet services to the Inspira Health Network in New Jersey (see "Comcast Business adds DOCSIS 3.1 based business services in U.S. Northeast, Mid-Atlantic").
