Amdocs (NASDAQ:DOX) says it is supplying network functions virtualization (NFV) software and services to Comcast Business to support the operator’s software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) offering. The service combines secure IP-VPN, application-aware routing, and a stateful network firewall.

Comcast Business delivers its SD-WAN service using its ActiveCore software-defined networking (SDN) platform, the public internet, and its carrier-class IP-backbone, and hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) and all-fiber access infrastructure. The combination enables firewall-secured, branch-level internet connectivity to a public cloud.

The Amdocs NFV portfolio includes orchestration, fulfillment, and automation capabilities as well as access to a range of virtualized service functions from Amdocs’ partner ecosystem.

“With its SD-WAN service, Comcast Business is making great strides in helping organizations increase business efficiencies and agility, which is so critical in today’s digital age,” said Gary Miles, chief marketing officer at Amdocs. “Comcast is leading the industry by rapidly on-boarding innovative NFV use cases. Amdocs is proud to support Comcast Business as it reinvents the enterprise customer digital experience and provides enterprises with the capabilities necessary to build their own cloud-based network and design the services they require.”
