Having already made a few bets on telecommunications companies, Macquarie Capital appears interested in more. The corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Macquarie Group has named Oliver Bradley a managing director, with the charge to lead the company’s investment strategy in the European digital infrastructure space.
Bradley worked for Macquarie from 2005 to 2015 and returns to the firm after spending time as the corporate finance director of UK fiber broadband infrastructure provider CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings plc. As Macquarie describes, Bradley had an eventful tenure at CityFibre, including partnering with Vodafone on nationwide fiber to the premises (FTTP) build (see “Vodafone chooses CityFibre FTTP network for UK broadband delivery”) and arranging for CityFibre to be taken private by a combination of private infrastructure funds (see “Goldman Sachs, Antin consortium finalizes acquisition of CityFibre”). Macquarie was one of the underwriters of a CityFibre fund raising effort in 2017 (see “CityFibre plans to raise £200 million for FTTH projects, acquisition”) and advised it on an earlier funding effort in 2011 (see "CityFibre plans to invest up to £500m in UK fiber rollout").
Prior to joining CityFibre, Bradley worked in the UK Treasury in an advisory role. Macquarie credits Bradley with crating the Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund (DIIF; see “UK Government's Autumn Statement targets new FTTP connections”).
