Poland-based cable MSO network software vendor Falcon V Systems has named Ulf Andersson as its new CEO with an eye toward raising its profile in North America. Andersson, who assumed the top position on August 1, will reside in the U.S., where the company is opening a new office in Plano, TX.
Falcon V Systems offers converged access software products to assist cable MSOs in the development and implementation of open Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) ecosystems. The company has demonstrated the interoperability of its Flexible MAC Architecture (FMA) platform, MAC Manager, with that of Vecima Networks.
Andersson comes to Falcon V Systems from Silicon Valley startup MobiledgeX, where he was chief revenue officer before that company was acquired by Google earlier this year. His more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications includes a stint as senior vice president of business development and sales at Ericsson. Andersson replaces Bartosz Kajut, who will remain as company president through an unspecified transitional period before continuing as the board appointee of Falcon V Systems shareholder VECTOR Group. Andersson’s appointment is the second senior leadership addition for the company, following the recent appointment of Jeanie York, CTO of Virgin Media O2, to Falcon V Systems’ Supervisory Board.
