Falcon V Systems names Ulf Andersson as CEO to boost North American profile

Sept. 8, 2022
Andersson, who assumed the top position on August 1, will reside in the U.S., where the company is opening a new office.

Poland-based cable MSO network software vendor Falcon V Systems has named Ulf Andersson as its new CEO with an eye toward raising its profile in North America. Andersson, who assumed the top position on August 1, will reside in the U.S., where the company is opening a new office in Plano, TX.

Falcon V Systems offers converged access software products to assist cable MSOs in the development and implementation of open Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) ecosystems. The company has demonstrated the interoperability of its Flexible MAC Architecture (FMA) platform, MAC Manager, with that of Vecima Networks.

Andersson comes to Falcon V Systems from Silicon Valley startup MobiledgeX, where he was chief revenue officer before that company was acquired by Google earlier this year. His more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications includes a stint as senior vice president of business development and sales at Ericsson. Andersson replaces Bartosz Kajut, who will remain as company president through an unspecified transitional period before continuing as the board appointee of Falcon V Systems shareholder VECTOR Group. Liberty Global and Charter Communications also are major shareholders in the company (see "Falcon V partners with Charter, Liberty Global on new open DAA for MSOs").

“I am thrilled to take the lead of the great team and excited about the opportunity for growth for Falcon V Systems. The solutions, competence, and pace of innovation the Falcon V Systems team brings to the industry is very impressive,” Andersson commented.

“We are delighted to welcome Ulf to Falcon V Systems at this crucial stage of the company’s growth. The strengthened leadership will help Falcon V Systems accelerate its technology roadmap and scale its commercial activities. Falcon V Systems has been a catalyst for driving openness and virtualization for the next-gen broadband. We are the only joint venture with two Tier 1 MSOs that solidify our efforts in designing an interoperable, scalable, and disaggregated software ecosystem that benefits the cable industry as a whole,” added Kajut.

Advisor added

Andersson’s appointment is the second senior leadership addition for the company, following the recent appointment of Jeanie York, CTO of Virgin Media O2, to Falcon V Systems’ Supervisory Board.

“We are delighted to welcome Jeanie York to Falcon V Systems’ Supervisory Board, a forward-thinking leader of the telecommunications industry with a proven track record in upgrading the UK’s digital infrastructure,” said Kajut. “She brings comprehensive business insight from various technologies, including DOCSIS and PON, that will help us shape continued innovation in building an interoperable, scalable, and disaggregated software ecosystem. We are excited to see Jeanie York join the partnership, which paints a compelling view of operators’ willingness to contribute and further benefit from developing open and non-proprietary solutions.”
