WOW! (NYSE:WOW) has expanded gigabit Internet service to Powell, TN, following continued expansion of the company's Knoxville network. WOW! 1 Gbps residential and business services are now available to more than 5,800 residential and business customers in Powell.

The expansion of the WOW! 1 Gig Internet footprint into Powell comes a year after the company's initial launch of gigabit service in Knoxville last October. The Powell deployment is based on DOCSIS 3.1 over existing HFC plant, as are all of WOW!'s current gigabit deployments except Peachtree City, GA. The company currently offers the Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) On-Hub router for its 1 Gig customers. Earlier this month, the company announced plans to launch DOCSIS 3.1-based gigabit across more than 95% of its existing footprint, starting in early 2018. The rollout is expected to be complete by February.

"WOW! is always exploring the opportunity to bring our award-winning services to communities hungry for an alternative to their current Internet, cable and phone provider on the fringes of our existing footprint," said Matt DeMuro, WOW! system manager. "With WOW!'s leading residential and business offerings and our exceptional customer service, our mission is to provide the best products and the best service at the best possible value."

WOW! offers four residential Internet speed tiers: Internet 10 - 10Mbps, Internet 100 - 100Mbps, Internet 500 - 500Mbps and Internet 1000, WOW!'s 1 Gbps offering. The services can be bundled with TV and phone packages as well.
