Google Fiber (NASDAQ:GOOG) plans to deploy in Provo, UT. The search giant said the presence of numerous tech companies and startups in Provo and in Utah generally make the area particularly attractive. As part of the pending deal, Google has signed an agreement to purchase iProvo, an existing fiber-optic network owned by the city, and committed to upgrade the network to gigabit technology and finish network construction. The pending agreement goes up for a vote by the Provo City Council on April 23.
