Shentel's Glo Fiber debuts in Delaware

New Shentel Glo Fiber FTTH deployment to begin in early 2023, aimed at more than 21,000 homes and businesses.

Glo Fiber, the fiber broadband business unit of Shenandoah Telecommunications (Shentel; NASDAQ: SHEN), announced it will continue its fiber to the home (FTTH) footprint expansion with construction of new networks in Sussex County, Delaware.

The company’s first excursion into Delaware, the newly announced Glo Fiber FTTH deployment is set begin in early 2023 and will target more than 21,000 homes and businesses in the county.

"The county staff at Sussex County have been fantastic to work with and are eager to have a competitive fiber provider come to their area. This expansion will continue to grow the Glo brand in new markets where residents and businesses alike will reap the benefits of having access to our state-of-the-art fiber product."

The network expansion into Delaware is part of a Shentel’s plan to grow its customer base in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region. The company currently serves parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. According to a press release, its activities in each state are supported via 7,600 route miles of fiber, which also connect to more than 220 macro cellular towers.

Glo Fiber will offer three tiers of symmetrical, high-speed internet access (topping out at 2 Gbps), streaming TV, and unlimited local and long-distance phone service. The Glo TV service is delivered via an app and is compatible with Apple TV, Amazon's Fire Stick, and various smart TVs, according to the company.
