Comcast's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Xfinity On Campus service is now available at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, AL. The multiscreen video service, which is included with room and board, allows students living in on-campus housing to watch live TV, Xfinity On Demand and recorded content on their IP-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

UAH is the first institute of higher learning in Alabama to launch Xfinity on Campus, joining several other schools across the southeast including Emory University, Tennessee State University, The University of Southern Mississippi, and Savannah College of Art and Design.

Xfinity On Campus offers more than 100 live television channels including every major broadcast network, as well as AMC, Bravo, BET, ESPN, FX and MTV through Comcast's Xfinity Stream app and portal. The service also includes access to current season TV shows and movies via Xfinity On Demand. While off campus, students can use the Xfinity Stream app to log in and access TV Everywhere programming that's part of their subscription.

"With today's announcement, UAH becomes the first institute of higher learning in Alabama to offer Xfinity on Campus to its students," said Doug Guthrie, Comcast's regional senior vice president. "Students can now turn any mobile device into a television, enabling them to easily view their favorite content on the go, anytime."

In other Comcast news, smart door locks from Yale Locks & Hardware's Assure Lock line can now be connected to the MSO's Xfinity Home service, its home security and home automation solution, when purchased with a Yale Zigbee Network Module.

When Yale's smart lock is integrated into an Xfinity Home system, the door locks can be controlled and monitored from anywhere using the Xfinity Home mobile app (iOS or Android). Users can remotely lock and unlock doors, check lock status, and create rules such as receive a notification if the door is unlocked after 8:30 p.m. Additionally, Xfinity Home customers with the X1 voice remote can say, "Lock the front door" to lock their compatible Yale Assure Lock.
