TiVo announced its planned TiVo Premiere Elite set-top box, offering four digital tuners and a 2 terabyte (TB) hard drive, as well as THX certification for sound and video fidelity. The new box is intended for use with digital cable systems only and will not work with analog cable or over-the-air antennas.The new product is TiVo's first DVR with four tuners, designed for simultaneous recording of four different shows while viewing a fifth recorded program. The 2 TB hard drive is designed for up to 300 hours of recorded HD programming. The box maintains TiVo's user interface, integrating web entertainment from Netflix, Pandora, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video and YouTube.It can also send content to other TiVo devices in the home, or integrate with home automation remotes, via MoCA or Ethernet connectivity. It's expected to be available by the end of the year.
