At IBC2017 in Amsterdam, Accedo is launching its Operator Tier Android TV Launcher as a platform within the Accedo Studio Pay TV edition product. The Launcher is intended to enable pay TV operators to extend their set-top-box video services to the Android TV ecosystem, while remaining in control of their brand experience at all times.
The product is intended to allow pay TV operators to differentiate their video services, own the user experience, and prioritize their content ahead of third-party content. It's designed to integrate with an operator's content management systems, video infrastructure, and other back-office components.
The platform is designed to provide personalized recommendations in combination with a traditional broadcast channel guide for access to OTT and broadcast services including recordings; catchup TV; video on demand (VOD), plus Android app-based content. Cloud-based user interface management platforms allow the operator to re-brand, re-skin, and re-configure the Launcher with a customized user interface for each deployment.
In other Accedo news, the company will be presenting the virtual reality (VR) capabilities of its newly launched Accedo One platform, together with Nokia's OZO Player SDK, at IBC. The combined solution is intended to enable pay TV operators, broadcasters and brands to create, manage and publish immersive video and VR across devices, while ensuring a consistent brand experience.
