November 5, 2002--Sorrento Networks, a San Diego-based supplier of intelligent optical networking equipment for metro and regional applications, and Unitech Networks, an Internet engineering firm, today announced an agreement establishing Unitech as an official reseller of Sorrento Networks' optical networking products in Hong Kong. This agreement extends Sorrento's existing Asia-Pacific distribution footprint even deeper into the region.

"Hong Kong is one of the brightest opportunities in the Asia-Pacific market for optical networking growth," said Darin Clause, vice president of strategic sales for Sorrento Networks. "Our relationship with Unitech builds upon other steps we have taken to expand our presence in the region. Because Unitech is already an established networking systems integrator and reseller in the area, they are especially well positioned to provide superior local sales, service, and support that customers expect from best-of-breed vendors. We look forward to a successful partner relationship with Unitech."

Unitech CEO Alex Chan added, "The Hong Kong market is a central, convenient base from which we serve customers throughout the region. Sorrento's products are very well suited to the optical networking needs of our market, featuring solutions for both carriers and enterprises - including single fiber capability - and wide coverage of all protocols and network topologies relevant for bandwidth transport as well as storage area networking. We are honored to be Sorrento Networks' partner, and are pleased to have already won new business with Wharf New T&T applying Sorrento solutions that complement our existing product lines."

Sorrento Networks' GigaMux is a metro and regional DWDM platform that transforms any fiber plant into a high-performance, multi-protocol transmission network with up to 64 times the transmission capacity. Working in conjunction with GigaMux is the EPC product family, consisting of sub-rate aggregation multiplexers that increase bandwidth utilization by combining a wide variety of traffic for transmission over a single wavelength, including ESCON, Fibre Channel, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and SONET/SDH channels. For entry-level networks, Sorrento also offers JumpStart-400, an 8-wavelength, coarse wavelength-division multiplexing platform.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, Unitech Networks provides region-wide services with operations in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan, and with service partners in other regions. Further information on Unitech can be found at www.unitechnetworks.com.

Sorrento Networks' products support a wide range of protocols and network traffic over linear, ring and mesh topologies. Sorrento Networks' existing customer base and market focus includes communications carriers in the telecommunications, cable TV and utilities markets. The storage area network (SAN) market is addressed though alliances with SAN system integrators. Additional information about Sorrento Networks can be found at www.sorrentonet.com.
