Ignis Optics demonstrates compatibility with Velio in SONET/SDH environment
July 25, 2002--Ignis Optics today demonstrated interoperability of its IGP-2000 Series OC-48 Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers with a SerDes IC reference board from Velio Communications.
Ignis Optics today demonstrated interoperability of its IGP-2000 Series OC-48 Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers with a SerDes IC reference board from Velio Communications. The demonstration took place at the Metro Optical Networking Forum in Santa Clara, CA.
The Ignis SFP transceivers successfully transmitted and received error free 2.5-Gbit/sec data in two separate demonstrations. The Velio platform featured its VC1021S Quad OC-48 Physical Layer Transceiver device and provided OC-48 SONET framed data to the Ignis transceivers. Multiple channels on both boards were demonstrated.
Ignis Optics introduced its new IO-PKG transceiver package in March 2002. By leveraging manufacturing techniques traditionally used for multimode products, Ignis Optics has created a singlemode transceiver that offers exceptional performance at very attractive pricing, contend company representatives. Ignis' SFP transceivers also offer enhanced digital diagnostics capability. The diagnostics enable end users to remotely monitor key module parameters to ensure system stability and operation within required operating ranges. Ignis Optics SFP transceivers comply with ITU-G.957 and Telcordia GR-253-CORE requirements.
