May 7, 2002--Optical Solutions Inc. (www.opticalsolutions.com), developer of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment, and Minerva Networks Inc. (www.minervanetworks.com), a provider of IP television solutions, will jointly market an FTTH offering for telecommunications and other service providers.
Optical Solutions also announced it will join Minerva's IP Television Alliance, an association designed to educate, promote, and accelerate market adoption of IP television.
"Service providers that recognize the value of offering a triple-play of services to their customers now have a premium solution that will delight their customers and thwart the competition," said Darryl Ponder, chairman and CEO of Optical Solutions. "We have created a complete package that combines Optical Solutions' field-proven passive optical network solution for delivering converged voice, video, and high-speed data services to the home, with Minerva's leading-edge IP television headend. This integration enables home enjoyment of interactive television, unlimited broadcast and video-on-demand channels, personal video recording, and more."
Mauro Bonomi, president and CEO at Minerva, added, "Bandwidth availability is the only limitation when it comes to delivering high-quality IP video to the home. PON technology like Optical Solutions' FiberPath system enables the ultimate IP television services -- from multiple television sets to PVR and HDTV."
The joint offering is currently available.
