Ceyba closes its doors

5 August 2003 Ottawa, Canada Lightwave-- Ceyba, a private company focused on core optical networking technologies, has officially closed its offices, according to a company spokeswoman. Its core product, announced in March of 2002, was designed to offer 10- and 40-Gbit/sec channels on the same DWDM platform.

Its core product, announced in March of 2002, was designed to offer 10- and 40-Gbit/sec channels on the same DWDM platform.

Ceyba was founded under the name Solinet Systems in May of 2000 by a group of senior design engineers formerly with Nortel Networks and Lucent Microelectronics. The company was well funded early on. By October 2001, Ceyba had raised $108 million in funding from venture capital firms, and had about 200 employees.
