StrataLight provides 40-Gbit/sec optical transport subsystems for use by carriers in long-distance core networks. StrataLight's first product has been tested in recent field trials in the U.S. and Europe and is being offered on an OEM basis by several large U.S. and European optical networking system integrators as a complement to their latest generation 10-Gbit/sec optical transport products.

The company's proprietary lightwave modulation technology allows the transport of 40 Gbits/sec using a single optical wavelength that will retrofit into 10-Gbit/sec optical channels, increasing fiber capacity and lowering transport costs.
