MOEC raises $20 million in venture capital funding

Optical components manufacturer Molecular OptoElectronics Corporation (MOEC) announced it has completed $20 million in second-round financing.

Optical components manufacturer Molecular OptoElectronics Corporation (MOEC) announced it has completed $20 million in second-round financing. The round was led by Lehman Brothers Venture Partners and also included commitments from Epoch Partners as well as first-round investor Intel Capital. The new funding will be used to strengthen MOEC's product manufacturing, research and development, sales and marketing and customer, partner and alliance efforts.

MOEC creates and delivers fiber-optic components to companies that construct sophisticated optical networking equipment. The company's products fit into existing fiber plant and are designed to help eliminate bandwidth challenges presented by the data requirements of consumer and business applications. In addition to the Shadow series of variable attenuators, fiber-optic safety shutters, and power control modules, the company makes waveguide optical amplifiers under the WaveDaemon brand.
