Village Networks, Inc., a provider of integrated packet-over-optics networking solutions, announced a strategic partnership with NeoWave, Inc., a provider of optical Internet access solutions in Korea.
This partnership is mutually beneficial to both Village Networks and NeoWave. For Village Networks, it provides a strong local representative to the significant Korean telecommunications marketplace. Under the terms of the agreement, NeoWave will work with Village Networks' Asia-Pacific business development and sales team on market and business development, as well as provide customer service and support and systems integration.
For NeoWave, the addition of the iOPN2000 optical packet node adds a metro-core offering to complete its comprehensive portfolio of solutions for the optical Internet. The iOPN2000 is an optical packet node that fully integrates packet switching with optics into a single networking device for metro and regional markets. First announced in December 2000, the iOPN2000 has undergone extensive trials with service providers, including Global Crossing, and is beginning commercial availability this year.
NeoWave's flagship products include FM200, a small-size fiber-optic loop carrier; FLC-D, a STM-1, medium-size fiber-optic loop carrier; MSDSL, a multi-rate symmetric DSL for Internet leased line connection; EtherMate, a residential Ethernet solution; and NetMate, next-generation voice and Internet integrated access multiplexer for xDSL, modem and ISDN.
