Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) has finalized its recently announced acquisition of RiverDelta Networks, Inc., a provider of carrier-class broadband routing, switching, cable modem termination system (CMTS), and service management solutions. As was previously announced, Motorola acquired all of RiverDelta Networks' capital stock in exchange for shares of Motorola's common stock.
This acquisition is part of Motorola Broadband's ongoing strategy to offer broadband network operators an end-to-end IP network infrastructure capable of supporting the latest broadband data, voice, and video applications. RiverDelta's intelligent, content-aware networking technology bolsters Motorola's IP networking infrastructure portfolio. Motorola is now poised to offer a broad CMTS product family, with products ranging from high-density solutions that combine high-availability, integrated routing, and per-flow Quality of Service (QoS) for operators who want to support advanced services, to modular configurations for small/distributed networks.
RiverDelta Networks' products and businesses are being integrated into Motorola's Broadband Communications Sector -- specifically within its existing Network Infrastructure Solutions business. The newly combined Network Infrastructure Solutions business will be led by vice president and general manager Peter Sherlock. David Callan, former RiverDelta president and CEO, will now serve as a strategic advisor for the IP Systems Group, which is comprised of the Network Infrastructure Solutions business, as well as the modem, telephony, and transmission businesses. Michael Brown, former RiverDelta vice president of business development and COO, has taken on the role of Motorola vice president of business development.
