360networks announced it has been granted a Type 1 facilities-based license to own and operate telecommunications infrastructure in Japan, a telecommunications hub in the Asia-Pacific region. The license will allow 360networks to deliver bandwidth and collocation services to its global customers in Japan.

In January of this year, 360networks opened an office in Tokyo with sales and operations staff. 360networks will begin delivery of service from the operational hub and collocation facility in Tokyo by November, including key routes of Tokyo and Osaka to North America, and Tokyo to Hong Kong, and eventually Singapore.

This is the second license for which 360networks has received approval in Asia. In March, 360networks obtained a facilities-based operator license in Singapore.
