Alfalight secures $10 million funding

Apr. 30, 2001--Alfalight, a developer and manufacturer of 980nm pump lasers for the optical communications market, has secured $10 million in equipment financing for its Madison, Wisconsin and Montreal, Canada based operations.

Alfalight, a developer and manufacturer of 980nm pump lasers for the optical communications market, has secured $10 million in equipment financing for its Madison, Wisconsin and Montreal, Canada based operations. Participants in the funding included Silicon Valley Bank, GATX, Third Coast Capital and Transamerica.

Alfalight, which provides specialized, high power diode laser products for the telecommunications industry, has previously received funding from several venture capital investors, including Advanced Technology Ventures, InterWest, ARCH Venture Partners, Venture Investors of Wisconsin, EDF Ventures and Centerpoint. This financing will be used for capital equipment in Alfalight's Madison and Montreal facilities.
