NetLogic Microsystems secures $18 million in second round funding

NetLogic Microsystems, Inc., a provider of network data plane system solutions that enable the global infrastructure of networking and optical communications, announced it has secured $18 million from new and existing investors in its second round of funding.

NetLogic Microsystems, Inc., a provider of network data plane system solutions that enable the global infrastructure of networking and optical communications, announced it has secured $18 million from new and existing investors in its second round of funding. This round of investment will help NetLogic Microsystems accelerate development of its data plane solutions for next-generation OC-192 and OC-768 Layer 4+ networking equipment.

This second financing round will be used for further research and development of advanced architectures as well as for development of enhanced features and functionality for its system solutions. NetLogic's family of data plane solutions includes a broad range of industry-leading network search engines and high-performance network classification and forwarding processors. NetLogic also provides multi-processor search interfaces, subsystems and software solutions that accelerate design and enables faster time-to-market for networking and communications equipment vendors.

Sevin Rosen Funds, with its emphasis on Internet infrastructure solutions, led this round of funding. Sevin Rosen's investments target pivotal advances in technologies such as optical networks, wireless Internet and e-commerce infrastructure. In addition to Sevin Rosen, other new investors in NetLogic's funding included J.W. Seligman, Hambrecht & Quist, and UMC Foundry. Existing investors Hallador Ventures and GlobalLink One Capital also participated in the round.
