u²t Photonics AG says it has entered into a manufacturing agreement with Fabrinet, principally for production of u²t’s high volume product lines.

The company is perhaps best known for its high-speed receivers, as well as other devices for 40- and 100-Gbps applications.

Said Andreas Umbach, CEO, “As a leading supplier of ultra-high speed optical components up to 100 GHz, u²t Photonics AG was evaluating several opportunities to support the continuous growth we are experiencing in our market. We concluded that the right option to increase our capacity and flexibility was to engage with Fabrinet to leverage their engineering and manufacturing expertise in the fiber-optics market. In addition to our own production location in Berlin, u²t is well positioned for increasing demand by working with such an experienced partner.“

“We are extremely pleased to announce our new partnership with u²t,” added Tom Mitchell, Fabrinet’s chairman and CEO. “u²t recognized our experience and capabilities in manufacturing high-end precision optical communication devices incorporating the latest technologies. As their strategic manufacturing partner, we will support u²t’s growing business with continuous focus on quality, delivery, and competitiveness.”
