BTI Systems, provider of packet optical networking for metropolitan networks, is expanding its engineering, research, and development functions, as well as broadening its product portfolio.
The expansion is taking place under the leadership of the company’s new senior vice president of engineering, Mike Grady.
BTI Systems’ R&D expansion includes a Verification Center of Excellence—based in the Optical Valley Square in Wuhan, China—which will test and verify BTI's range of packet optical networking systems. BTI's Wuhan location complements its existing APAC operations in Shanghai, Malaysia, and Singapore, along with sales and support activities in other countries across the region.
Under Grady's leadership, R&D Centers of Excellence in Belfast and Boston are expanding. The company is adding personnel in Belfast, where engineers focus on developing tools for intelligent service creation, and in Boston, home to BTI Systems’ packet engineering and content delivery team. The company headquarters in Ottawa is also expanding its engineering staff.
"BTI Systems is poised to accelerate service creation and content delivery in the metro and these changes ensure we have global, best-in-class engineering support for our customers," says Mike Grady, senior vice president of engineering for BTI Systems.
Grady holds a bachelor's degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and boasts more than 30 years of engineering and engineering management experience.
"This expansion is focused on the needs of our customers globally," says BTI Systems President/CEO Steven Waszak. "We are committed to building a global business capitalizing on broadband growth in metro networks, with a global engineering platform of top talent in key markets near our customers."
