ElectroniCast: Market for fiber-optic fusion splicers to reach $550 million in 2014
MARCH 9, 2010 -- ElectroniCast Consultants has released a new market forecast and analysis report that says the market for fiber-optic fusion splicers will increase to $550 million in 2014, with double-digit annual growth in all regional segments.
The global consumption value of fiber-optic fusion splice equipment in 2009 was $302 million, up slightly from 2008, says the market research and analysis firm.

“Interest is growing in this product segment, especially in countries, such as Mexico, with dark fiber auctions occurring in 2010. Also, millions of dollars of telecommunication infrastructure are planned for several Latin American countries during 2010; therefore, fusion splicers continue to be on the shopping list,” said Stephen Montgomery, president of international business at ElectroniCast.
“The use of fusion splicers in the production (manufacturing) of fiber-optic components is picking up again and we are forecasting annual worldwide growth of over 18 percent and over 30 percent in the Asia- Pacific region,” Montgomery added.
