AUGUST 23, 2010 -- FOSS A/S has become main shareholder in Ibsen Photonics A/S through a purchase of an additional 73% of Ibsen Photonics shares from existing shareholders. FOSS now owns approximately 85% of Ibsen shares. The investment reflects a growing partnership over the last years between the two companies, FOSS and Ibsen say.
Ibsen Photonics is develops holographic, fused silica transmission gratings and spectrometer modules for telecom, analytical, sensing, and laser markets.
Kim Vejlby Hansen, executive vice president, innovation and quality at FOSS and now chairman at Ibsen, explains, “We have worked with Ibsen for some years now and have found their spectrometer solutions to be second-to-none. This is partly based on exceptional grating technology and optical design know-how, and partly based on Ibsen’s unique resolve to collaborate with their customers to find win-win solutions. We are confident that Ibsen has the necessary backing to grow the business and be a profitable investment for FOSS.”
FOSS is using Ibsen’s products in their analytical instruments and, by becoming main shareholder, FOSS secures the continued supply of spectrometers.
“We at Ibsen see this deal as proof that superior technology combined with customer support and collaboration is the right approach to securing a long-term, profitable growth,” says Torben Jacobsen, president and CEO of Ibsen. “With the backing of the FOSS group we have the muscle to further develop all our businesses -- gratings, interrogation monitors, and spectrometers -- to support all our customers worldwide with our usual dedication.”
