Axsun Technologies supplies optical monitors for Movaz ROADM

September 15, 2004 Billerica, MA -- Movaz Networks has selected Axsun Technologies' OMx optical monitor to provide real-time monitoring of the optical layer in its RAY ROADM product. Less than one-tenth the size of optical monitor solutions based on bulk optics, Axsun OMx monitors feature high-resolution spectral analysis for network fault management and optical signal routing in high performance optical communications systems.

September 15, 2004 Billerica, MA -- Axsun Technologies Inc., developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components and subsystems, has announced that its OMx optical monitor has been selected to provide real-time monitoring of the optical layer in Movaz Networks' RAY ROADM product.

Less than one-tenth the size of optical monitor solutions based on bulk optics, Axsun OMx monitors feature high-resolution spectral analysis for network fault management and optical signal routing in high performance optical communications systems.

The RAY ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer) provides customers with a scalable and flexible solution, with automated power leveling for regional and long haul applications. With an extremely small footprint, RAY ROADM also supports hitless reconfigurability of any wavelength or combination of up to 40 wavelengths. By integrating the Axsun OMx monitor, Movaz assures the optical integrity as well as the Carrier Class reliability of the system, say representatives from the companies.

"Optical Layer Performance Monitoring is an integral part of the Movaz RAY ROADM," asserts Zouheir Mansourati, senior vice president of marketing and technology solutions at Movaz. "By combining Axsun's OMx monitor with Movaz's unique ROADM technology, we are providing our customers seamless network integration with a very compact and cost-effective solution."

"The Axsun OMx monitor provides Movaz customers assurance of optical performance integrity in this dynamic ROADM application," adds Jack Kay, president and CEO of Axsun Technologies. "We are pleased to welcome Movaz, a leading supplier of DWDM equipment, as an Axsun OMx customer, solidifying our leadership in the optical monitor market."
