GTT Communications, Inc. (NYSE: GTT) has announced the acquisition of Accelerated Connections (ACI) to develop what the U.S.-based international telecommunications services provider asserts is one of Canada's largest non-incumbent network footprints in the market. Consistent with GTT's practice for smaller acquisitions, financial terms of the ACI acquisition will be disclosed with its first quarter 2018 results.

A provider of managed networking, voice-over-IP (VoIP), and colocation services for large distributed Canadian enterprises, ACI operates two data center facilities and a national network. The ACI acquisition will add strategic clients in hospitality, financial services, retail, and other important vertical markets, says GTT. Aligning with GTT's cloud networking service portfolio, the acquisition will provide complementary connectivity, managed service offerings, and VoIP to its portfolio.

According to GTT, the ACI acquisition will also expand GTT's network assets and presence in the Canadian market, including its landing station for the low latency transatlantic GTT Express fiber cable system. This acquisition complements GTTs low latency services between major financial centers around the world (see "GTT Communications offers low-latency services for Brazil's financial markets").

"ACI's deep experience in delivering cloud networking services to distributed enterprises in Canada significantly expands GTT's global presence," said Rick Calder, GTT president and CEO. "This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to invest in assets and capabilities that enable us to deliver on our purpose of connecting people across organizations and around the world."

Headquartered in Toronto, ACI serves over 1,600 distributed enterprises in Canada.
