Windstream says the collaboration shows demand for its Intelligent Converged Optical Network (ICON).

On March 18, Windstream Wholesale announced a strategic partnership with digital infrastructure and technology provider Cirion Technologies that will see Windstream provide domestic wavelength services from the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Cable Landing Station to Cirion’s core U.S. network nodes.

Windstream reports that the collaboration is an important component of its initiative to deliver adaptable lit and dark fiber solutions to subsea cables along the East Coast of the United States. Windstream also reports that the partnership underscores the demand for its Intelligent Converged Optical Network (ICON).

“This strategic partnership with Cirion Technologies illustrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge connectivity solutions that empower our customers with unparalleled options,” said Windstream Wholesale president Joe Scattareggia in a press release. “We are thrilled to provide over six terabits of initial capacity to Cirion and look forward to supporting their network expansion goals with our robust infrastructure.”

Federico La Volpe, senior director of Network Architecture and Development at Cirion Technologies, called the activation of services at the cable landing station a significant milestone.

“These linkages from our U.S. locations to the Myrtle Beach site will enhance our network capabilities and support our mission to deliver exceptional service to our customers,” said La Volpe in the same press release.
