Intelect Network Technologies, a subsidiary of the Richardson, TX-based Intelect Communications Systems Ltd., has received orders for more than 50 nodes of its sonetlynx digital fiber-optic multiplexer for installations in Far East markets. One order is for the first sonetlynx application in the People`s Republic of China, for video surveillance and local area network communications within an intelligent highway system. Many of the other orders for new nodes are for expansions of existing banking and personal communication services back-haul network applications. Intelect also has reached an agreement with BoCom Corp. to distribute the fiber-optic multiplexer in China and Hong Kong. In a separate deal, Intelect received its first OC-3 (155 Mbits/sec) order from a Far East customer after getting an additional $1 million request for its sonetlynx fiber-optic multiplexers. The order includes more than 20 OC-3 nodes.
