A joint venture between Lucent Technologies, Murray Hill, NJ, and Finolex, Village Urse, Pune, India, has won a $11.1 million order from Bharti Telenet Ltd., Madhya Pradesh, India, to manufacture and supply optical-fiber cable for Bharti`s basic telecommunications services project in Madhya Pradesh. Bharti Telenet is a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Telecom Italia, and is the licensed operator of basic services in Madhya Pradesh. Under terms of the agreement, Lucent and Finolex will supply Bharti Telenet with 6-, 12-, and 24-fiber armored and non-armored cable. Completion of the project is scheduled for the end of 1998.
