Chromatic Technologies names product manager and specialist

Albert D. Magnani and Suzanne Whitmore have been named product manager and fiber-optic product specialist, respectively, at Chromatic Technologies Inc., Franklin, MA. Magnani has 15 years` experience in fiber-optic technology and was most recently fiber-optic sales manager at Brand-Rex Co. in Willimantic, CT. Previous employers include Telect Inc., GTE and Ensign-Bickford Co. Whitmore is responsible for implementing marketing and sales plans for standard fiber-optic products. She held various administrative and management positions during her 25-year tenure at Brand-Rex.

William P. Thompson has been named senior vice president, operations, at MFS Network Technologies Inc., Omaha, NB. He has more than 24 years` experience in the telecommunications industry. Thompson most recently worked as vice president, sales, at Cylix Communications Corp. Other former employers include Motorola/Codex, AT&T and Pacific Telephone Co.

D. Westervelt Davis has been appointed vice president and chief operating officer at Burlington, MA-based Lasertron Inc. He was previously president and chief executive at Autographix in Burlington, MA, and president at General Scanning Inc. in Watertown, MA.

Matthew Aden has been named vice president, international sales, at the Hatboro, PA-based GI Communications Division of General Instrument Corp. He was formerly senior account manager, central region sales manager and most recently, director of sales in Europe.

C. Michael Bowen has been elected vice chairman by the board of directors at Intecom Inc., a Dallas telecommunications equipment provider. In 1979, he co-founded Intecom. He left the company in 1986 to found VISystems Inc. and IBES Corp. Howard Miller, another Intecom co-founder, has been named senior vice president for engineering and technical services. He has spent the past 15 years with the company and has more than 20 years` experience in the telecommunications industry. Miller previously worked at Northern Telecom Inc. and GTE Automated Electric Laboratories.

Rudolph J. Frank has been named vice president for professional services and applications software at AT&T Network Systems, Morristown, NJ. Frank formerly held management and executive positions at Cincinnati Bell Telephone, Bell Laboratories and Pacific Northwest Bell.

Dave Janoff has been named division head and group publisher of the Communications and Opto-electronics Division of the Nashua, NH-based Advanced Technology Group, PennWell Publishing Co., Tulsa, OK. He was formerly group publisher for The Penn Well Communications Group, which includes Lightwave and Cabling Installation & Maintenance magazines. The new division includes these publications, as well as ATG`s Laser Focus World and ancillary publications and businesses. Florence Oreiro has been appointed publisher at Laser Focus World magazine and head of the Laser Focus World group. She was formerly sales director at Solid State Technology magazine and Laser Focus World and was most recently founding publisher of Data Storage magazine. Linda Wright has been named group business manager and publishing director for directories and buyers guides for the Communications and Opto-electronics Division. She was most recently associate publisher of Laser Focus World ancillaries. Jeff Bairstow has been named associate publisher and editorial director at Laser Focus World. He was formerly the magazine`s editorial director. George Miller has been promoted to associate publisher and editorial director at Lightwave and Cabling Installation & Maintenance. He was formerly group editorial director of the Communications Group. Lucas Garofalo has been named associate publisher, sales, at Lightwave and Cabling Installation & Maintenance. He was formerly national sales manager at Lightwave and associate publisher at Cabling Installation & Maintenance.

Paul G. Suchoski has been appointed manager of business development at Bloomfield, CT-based United Technologies Photonics Inc. Suchoski was most recently technical operations manager. Gregory B. Fortune was named manager of product development, and Aileen M. Yurek was appointed senior applications engineer. Fortune was formerly director for application-specific integrated-circuit engineering at Vertex Semiconductor Inc. in San Jose, CA, and Yurek was fiber-optic acoustic-sensor section head at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC.
