Calient Networks adds funding, new chairman

NOVEMBER 1, 2007 -- Calient Networks has secured $10 million in additional funding.

NOVEMBER 1, 2007 -- Calient Networks (search for Calient), a supplier of intelligent fiber management systems based on all-optical switching, announced that it has secured $10 million in additional funding, led by TeleSoft Partners with participation from Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, Sofinnova Venture, Wall Street Technology Partners, and other current investors.

The cash will be used to accelerate production, expand sales, and address new markets driven by the growth of fiber infrastructure for fiber to the home and other emerging applications.

With the completion of this round of funding, George Schmitt, managing director of Telesoft Partners, was elected chairman of Calient's board of directors. Calient's CEO Daniel Scharre said, "George's breadth of experience and deep industry contacts will be of immense value to Calient as it continues to expand its markets and sales."
